VISION
To implement the Project Management Institute's Standards for curriculum development and content in all academic project management educational programs.OBJECTIVES
The Academic Outreach Committee is the liaison between the Project Management Institute's Great Lakes Chapter and local universities, colleges and other project management educational groups. Its primary objective is to assist in the implementation of the Project Management Institute's Standards for curriculum development and content within project management educational programs.
IMPLEMENTATION OF OBJECTS
The Academic Outreach Committee can best assure this by: Awareness
- Assuring that universities and colleges are aware of PMI Academic Standards
- Informing academia on corporate needs in professional project management programs
Assistance
- Being responsive to the needs of universities and colleges in project management curriculum
- Assisting in the implementation of PMI Academic Standards in their PM curriculum
- Offering professional project management networking opportunities to university students
- Supporting individual Project Management research efforts within the academic community
- Assistance of other PMI-GLC committees to promote Standards in the Corporate community
- Developing PMI regional consensus as to baselines in PMI Academic Standards
Driving Demand for Project Management Academic Programs
- Sharing with Academia the benefits of Undergraduate and Graduate programs in Project Management
- Informing individuals working in project management roles about the value of professional PM education
- Communicating with executives in organizations regarding the value of Project Management academic curriculums
