Monthly Meeting Topic:  Program & Project Governance: Ensuring Your Program or Project Portfolio  Aligns with Changing Strategic & Business Objectives

As project and project managers, we have a responsibility for ensuring our project outcomes are aligned with organizational strategy, polices, and processes.   Project managers are frequently challenged to appreciate how organizational dynamics impact planned outcomes as they communicate and represent project achievements to stakeholders and sponsors. Using insights from the practical application of best practices in technology consulting, attendees will be reintroduced to the linkage between project governance and project management. They will be presented with techniques for proactively identifying changes to businss priorities and communicating them to their stakeholders at each stage of the project lifecycle. To conclude, they will be presented with resources to develop their project team’s capacity to adopt these practices within their own organizations. 

Speaker:  Christopher Blough, PMP
Chris has 16 years of professional experience working in public sector consultant and as a public servant in local government. Over the past four years he has served as a management consultant in Plante Moran’s Information Technology Consulting, Public Sector Practice specializing on local government enterprise technologies. As a project manager he leads project teams performing needs assessments, options analyses, solution selection, contract negotiations, and third-party implementation assurance services.

Chris earned his BS in Geography/Earth Science from Central Michigan University and his Master of Public Administration from Eastern Michigan University. He also holds Master Certificates in Project Management and IT Service Management from Villanova University.  He is a strong proponent for and member of PMI’s Great Lakes Chapter. 

Monthly Meeting Forum Topic:  Poor Communication, A Major Cause for Ineffective Project Teams

Does there seem to be a disconnect between you and your project team? Are tasks executed improperly because of misunderstandings? This is not uncommom when communication is poor and distrust exists. 

Attend this forum and explore the ways you can set the right tone for effective communication, mutual respect, and trust within your project teams.

Speaker:  Lisa Harvey Roach
Lisa Harvey Roach is a professional speaker, trainer, consultant, and engineer.  She is the founder of Wisdom Consulting which offers expertise in the areas of Project Management, Communication Skills, and Idea/Mind Mapping. 

Lisa has over 20 years of experience working in Corporate America in the steel and automotive industries. In her roles of Program Manager and Business/Commercial Strategy Planner at Visteon, Lisa managed several cross-functional and global teams. 

Lisa holds a Masters in Management degree from Aquinas College, Grand Rapids, MI and a Bachelor of Science degree, in Materials Engineering, from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI), Troy, NY.  Lisa is a Certified Idea/Mind Mapping Instructor and a Certified Project Management Professional (PMP). 

Lisa is an active member of the PMI Great Lakes Chapter and currently serves as the PMI-GLC Ambassador to Toastmasters.
