PMIGLC’s theme this year highlights the need to harness the power of innovation, creativity and leadership to flourish in our rapidly changing times. The “Project Management Innovation, Creativity and Leadership” theme centers on the Great Lakes Chapter providing a user experience that stimulates both project managers and business analysts to learn new things and adapt to rapidly changing environments. Innovation, creativity and leadership are the levers to balance the sheer speed of change in our professional environments.

Professional Development Day: Organizational Structure: The Rock On Which Agility Is Built
Does it seem like you are fighting an uphill battle or have plateaued in your agile journey to become more responsive and adaptive to change? Do you have the right organizational structure in place to support the behaviors you want?

Agile is not an “IT thing” - it has much more to do with how your organization is structured into teams. Organizations generally focus on behaviors, policies, and tools to help them gain agility but don’t change their environment to support agility.

As organizations grow and look for ways to scale they need to focus on creating an organizational structure that will nurture agility and enable continuous improvement. This talk focuses on organizational structure that will cultivate and sustain agility.

This year Professional Development Day is a customized all day event that will provide attendees a deep understanding of the structure that enables organizational agility beyond just simply using processes, tools, frameworks, and practices.  Some of the Key components of organizational agility that will be covered and how to optimize each: Demand/Discovery, Production, and Delivery.  The three main takeaways are: 1. Foundations for organizational agility; 2. Common roadblocks impeding agility; and 3. Actions to drive change.

Speaker: Chad Beier

Chad Beier, Whiteboard Consulting LLC, works with all levels of the organization to optimize your business to respond to change. He is passionate about moving organizations and people closer to agility.

His first experience with "agile", Scrum specifically, was in 2005. He was part of a global transformation team responsible for software customizations driven by a global consolidation of accounting software. The team ran into typical implementation challenges and organizational impediments.

Around 2012, Chad’s passion for lean, agile, and continuous improvement grew. He left his traditional business analyst and project manager roles behind and evolved into an internal change agent kick starting an agile transformation. Now in an advising role as an external change agent across many organizations, He promote organizational agility.
