Monthly Meeting and Quarterly Breakfast Meeting

January Monthly Meeting

January 11 - 6-7 pm

The Three Pillars of Strategy Success: Your Work, Your Career and Your Life
Strategic planning is now a part of the PMI’s Talent Triangle- now identified as a critical component to our current and future roles. However, reading and hearing is one thing but how many of us are in a position to practice strategic planning and execution? ALL OF US!

This session will show us how strategic planning is a key to our success at work but, as well, to our careers and our lives. We will learn how to create a solid plan for any of the three legs and we will leave with the start of our own Professional Strategic Plans.

January Quarterly Breakfast Meeting

January 22 - 7-8 am

Preserving Your Value Behind a Mask and Screen
This interactive breakfast meeting session will engage participants by encouraging them to share their experiences over the past year of living, learning, and working during a global pandemic. The presenters will provide some practical tips to engage teams at a distance and to maintain effective communication – despite needing to be behind a mask and/or a screen. The presenters will also discuss ways in which we can all perform Psychological First Aid for ourselves and others, at work, school and home.

Professional Development Opportunities

The PMP Exam is Changing in 2021 and So is the Way PMIGL is Providing Exam Prep Classes!

PMIGL is excited to announce that we will be partnering with Peak Business Management in 2021 for PMP Exam preparation courses. This comes, in part, due to the changes that PMI has made not only to the newest PMP exam but also a stricter set of guidelines for organizations that provide training. With this partnership, we will be able to offer our members a significant discount on PMP, DASM, and PMI-ACP exam preparation classes. The best part is that Peak offers several live virtual classes per month that fit any schedule (days, evenings, weekends) with instructors and students from around the country.

The Peak trainers provide a support system from the very start. They help you outline your journey and timeline, guide you along the path to certification, and maintain your credential with continuing education. Peak trainers take personal responsibility for the students’ training experience and measure their own success by the success of their students, which is evident by their higher than 95% success rate.

More information is coming, but if you would like to know more now, please visit the website at or contact Ron Papa at

Mission: Transition for Hire Workshop

January 16 - 8 am - 5 pm

Drawing on the concepts in The Transitioning Military Project Manager by Jay Hicks and Sandy Lawrence, and I Inc., Career Planning and Personal Entrepreneurship, by Mike Callahan, we are running a one day virtual event to help veterans be more empowered in their career quest, and to learn how to successfully pursue career opportunities in the field of Project Management and other areas that that might be in line with their personal aspirations.

The workshop itself will be focused on helping veterans learn how to think more like an entrepreneur regardless of their job aspirations, participate in an in-depth assessment of their personal plans and interests, gain a deeper understanding of how they can bring value to the job market and ultimately, tell their personal story in a compelling manner.

Throughout the day, we will be using examples of career prospects in Project Management as examples of how a veteran can pursue viable career opportunities in that space.

We will finish the day with real time networking opportunities with employers who are interested in hiring veterans for different positions within their companies.

Moylan's Mulligans

Morphing to “Project Manager Musings"
In December 2016, the first of the Moylan’s Mulligans articles appeared in the PMIGLC monthly Baseline newsletter. Initially, the monthly article served as a platform for me to opine on the topics of Project Management communications and leadership, with suggestions on ways to improve both, as I transitioned from serving the chapter as VP-Professional Development to VP-Outreach.
