Project Everest: Hybrid Agile Strategies for Reaching New Heights in Project Management
Alan’ Mallory's dynamic program is built around the two years of planning and two months of climbing that went into making the project of reaching the summit of Mount Everest a reality for Alan and three members of his immediate family. It is about adapting to challenges that we either choose or are inadvertently presented with in the new normal. 

Alan puts specific emphasis on adopting an agile mentality so that we are not too rigid in our thinking, reframing activities to focus on results rather than tasks, developing a level of trust in professional relationships, gaining alignment and commitment, working through change, recognizing strengths, managing schedule and risks, adopting an iterative approach which incorporates immediate feedback, and effectively working together to achieve strategic goals.

Alan is an international speaker, author and performance coach who is passionate about leadership and reaching new heights in all that we do. His unique philosophy of life revolves around empowering people and embracing an agile mentality focused on goals and results. By understanding what drives and motivates us, we are able to cultivate more innovative and effective ways of thinking and taking action.

March Happy Hour Meeting

March 16 - 6 - 7:30 pm

PMIGL will hold the first virtual happy hour of 2021 with special guest Perfect10 Mixology. Back by popular demand, our beverage expert Jennifer Peeples will lead our team building with a fun, informative tasting, and demonstration just in time for St. Patrick’s Day.

The evening will include beverage tips & fun facts. To prepare, a shopping list and Zoom information will be provided to those who register. Prefer delivery? Perfect10 Mixology can deliver your bar set for an additional fee. Already have all of the ingredients on the shopping list? You’re good to go!

Quality Management through Honest and Timely Feedback
When cultural norms and societal pressure keep us from being open and honest, the quality of our projects can suffer. It takes a lot of courage to address a difficult situation head-on so it’s important to use good data (not rumors or impressions), and have solid relationships to support your good intent. Project Managers are uniquely equipped with the skills that bring people together, inspire their commitment and maximize their contribution.

Speaker: Pamela Hartsell
Pam is a Project Manager and Senior Mechanical/Electrical Designer with nearly 30 years of experience in engineering for construction. With over 150 projects served, she has worked with owners, architects, developers and contractors on the design and construction of mechanical and electrical systems in a wide variety of business markets including food service, health care, senior living and multi-tenant residential.

PMIGL 2021 Virtual Symposium

April 23 - 8 am - 5 pm

Delivering Value in the New Normal
PMIGL and the Michigan Huron Valley Chapter of PMI are collaborating to bring our members a Virtual Symposium; "Delivering Value in the New Normal." This is the first time we have collaborated with another chapter to hold our Symposium and we are looking forward to having PMI-HVC members participate in this year's event.

You'll be able to participate from the comfort of your home and earn 6 PDUs for the day. After the Symposium has ended, an additional 9 PDUs may be earned for watching presentations available on demand. That's a potential 15 PDUs!

Workshop: The It Factor for Scrum Masters/Project Leaders

February 26 - 9 am - 12 pm

T\This workshop covers critical, yet often overlooked, aspects that companies are looking for in scrum masters and project managers from the perspective of someone who has trained, certified and hired scrum masters and project managers. Whether someone is a traditional project manager or scrum master, it will cover how to be an entrepreneurial leader who fosters innovation, has an agile mind-set as a project manager, helps to develop a dynamic cross-functional project management office (PMO) and is a true servant leader.

Empowering and Supporting Women in STEM Fields

Empowered women in the workplace benefit everyone. When women are empowered, they are more confident and have more control to make better decisions. To foster this outcome additional opportunities for training, sponsorship, and advancement into senior-level positions are needed.
