From
the President’s Desk
Greetings
fellow PMIGL Members!!
As
Oscar Wilde said, "And all at once, summer collapsed into
fall." We have officially welcomed the season of fabulous
colors and pumpkins. Summer just flew by us.
As
a chapter, we had a couple of big hit events during this
season...our annual golf outing and the workshop conducted
by renowned Networking Guru, Michael Hughes.
Just
like we are all planning and getting ready for the upcoming
cold and snow season, we at PMIGL are also preparing for
a change at the Board level. I am happy to announce that
Michele Patera, the current VP of Administration, has been
elected as the President-Elect for the year 2022. Michele
is a thoroughbred professional with an unwavering commitment
to volunteering. Elections are underway for the VP positions
that will become vacant next year. Please do not forget
to vote using the information emailed to you previously.
You
spoke and we listened…from the results of the In-person
VS Virtual Survey conducted last month, Virtual Events was
overwhelmingly your preference. So the Professional Development
Day (PDD) and the remaining Dinner meeting or 2021 will
be virtual. Read
on.
We
Remember Dave Gingrich

Finance. Our condolences to his family. More details will

Seminar
- Mission: Transition for Hire
November 13
- 8 am - 5 pm
Presenter:
Mike Callahan
Drawing
on the concepts in The Transitioning Military Project
Manager by Jay Hicks and Sandy Lawrence, and I Inc.,
Career Planning and Personal Entrepreneurship, by
Mike Callahan, we are running a one day virtual
event to help veterans be more empowered in their
career quest, and to learn how to successfully pursue
career opportunities in the field of Project Management
and other areas that that might be in line with
their personal aspirations.
The
workshop itself will be focused on helping veterans
learn how to think more like an entrepreneur regardless
of their job aspirations, participate in an in-depth
assessment of their personal plans and interests,
gain a deeper understanding of how they can bring
value to the job market and ultimately, tell their
personal story in a compelling manner.
Throughout
the day, we will be using examples of career prospects
in Project Management as examples of how a veteran
can pursue viable career opportunities in that space.
We
will finish the day with real time networking opportunities
with employers who are interested in hiring veterans
for different positions within their companies.

Are
you like me? A bit surprised that we’re in the last quarter
of 2021?
If
so, you’re not alone. Maybe you’ve accomplished what
you set out to achieve this year. Good for you! Setting goals
and accomplishing them is a tremendously satisfying feeling. Maybe
you’re still striving to meet your goals. The great thing
about the start of the fourth quarter of the year is that there’s
time to meet some of the goals you might not have yet fulfilled,
or to add to the list of what you would still like to achieve. Read
the complete article.
