“And if you play golf, you’re my friend”
We are excited to invite you to an event that promises not only a day of golf but also a unique opportunity for networking and personal growth. Our annual Golf Outing, just seven weeks away, is more than just a friendly game; it’s a chance to connect, engage, and enrich both your professional and personal lives. I want to encourage those that are novices or have dusty clubs to join us for this event. You don’t need the latest gear to have fun!
The Basics of a Golf Scramble
A golf scramble is a unique and inclusive format that encourages players of all skill levels to come together and enjoy a round of golf in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere. Unlike traditional stroke play, where each player completes their ball from start to finish, a golf scramble emphasizes teamwork and shared success.
In a golf scramble:
- Team Formation: Players are divided into teams of four members/guests.
- Shotgun Start: We have a shotgun start format, so everyone can enjoy dinner together and finish at the same time. It is key that everyone arrives on time and is ready for the first tee-offs on their assigned holes promptly with the gun at 8 AM.
- Starting Off: Each team member tees off from the starting hole. After the initial drive, the team selects the best shot among the group and marks that spot. This spot becomes the starting point for the next shot.
- Continuing Play: All team members then hit their next shots from the chosen spot. Again, the best shot is selected, and the process repeats until the ball is holed.
- Putting It In: On the putting green the process continues. The team selects the best position for the next putt, and all team members putt from that spot.
- Reading Scores: The team’s final score for each hole is the total number of shots it took to complete the hole in this collaborative manner.
- Winning Team: At the end of the round, the team with the lowest overall score is declared the winner.
Benefits of a Golf Scramble:
- Inclusivity: Golfers of varying skill levels can participate and contribute to the team’s success, making it an ideal format for mixed groups.
- Learning Opportunity: Novice golfers can learn from more experienced players as they make strategic decisions together.
- Social Interaction: The teamwork required encourages interaction and bonding among participants, making it a fantastic networking opportunity.
- Speed of Play: Scrambles often lead to quicker rounds, promoting efficient and enjoyable play speed.
